MACHINE HEAD: In A 'Cover' Mood
February 19, 2003MACHINE HEAD have announced plans to record three cover songs as selected by the members of the group's official forum at www.machinehead1.com. According to MH mainman Robert Flynn, "We have decided that we are going to record three cover songs of [the forum members'] choice, and then post them on 'The MH1 Board', and only 'this Board', for the people of 'this Board', and only the people of 'this Board'." Forum members are being asked to list three songs that they would like to hear MACHINE HEAD cover, after which "the band will then pick the 10 most interesting requests we feel we could do justice to / butcher horribly," says Flynn. "All of [the forum members] will vote on the final three. Most requests given for the three songs will win its recording." The resulting recordings "will then be posted on the board in a non-downloadable MP3 audio stream for the people of 'The MH1 Board' and only 'The MH1 Board'."
MACHINE HEAD are currently writing and demoing material for their fifth studio album, tentatively due in late 2003. The group's first-ever live album, "Hellalive", is slated for release on March 11 through Roadrunner Records. "Hellalive" was primarily recorded at the band's Dec. 8, 2001 show at the Brixton Academy in London, and was mixed by Colin Richardson at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England.
